Refusing the Thrill of Fear & Outrage

"Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love."
1 Corinthians 16: 13-14

Friends,

Is it just me or do people seem more angry, on edge, and ready to fight than ever lately? From the news to social media, from school to the dinner table, so many of us have fallen into an "us v. them" mentality. Some choose to avoid disagreements while others might run head first into it. This Sunday we are starting a series called "We Don't Talk About That At Church!" I am both eager and anxious as I prepare these messages. Together we will talk through some of the topics that divide us (things like race, justice, abortion, sexuality, and more) in a way that demonstrates our love for God and one another.

The goal is not to create an army of drones who repeat our beliefs. Instead, the goal is to learn how to think and talk about these topics from a Biblical perspective with the love and humility of Christ.
