What Are We Doing Here?

Last week we talked about who we should look to in disorienting seasons. This week, we will refocus by thinking about why we even come to church - what's the point? Can't we be spiritual Jesus-followers without a formal church or building?

The writer of Hebrews could have named all sorts of reasons not to "neglect" gathering together (teaching, service, worship, etc) but the reason given is "to encourage one another" and to "provoke one another to love and good deeds."

So, as we refocus this fall, let's ask ourselves the question - "Why are we part of a church?" "What difference does church make?"

For John the Baptist, in his darkest season (alone in prison) he began to question Jesus. When he couldn't see Jesus, his community shared all that they saw.
